About
Lisa
I graduated with a degree in Business
Administration. I have a strong understanding of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder AD/HD since I have been living with it since birth. I
enjoy sharing that my whole entire household is “spirited” and I couldn't see
living any other way than with AD/HD or with my loved ones who have AD/HD.
I
have coached children, adults and families with (AD/HD) for a number of years.
I believe that life (throughout the lifespan) coaching is the most ideal form
of coaching because I can relate so much to my clients from my personal
experience, but still learn something new from them.
I am involved in a number of local,
state and national organizations involved in the pursuit of education on AD/HD
and Life Coaching.
Even
I must practice "self-care" daily. I have a HUGE love for reading. I should
own stock in Barnes and Noble Bookstore by now. I enjoy gardening and just took
up Yoga. I find I still have to practice those breathing techniques and ability
to meditate, but it's a’lot of fun going through the process. What is most
essential to my daily routine is to receive my phone call each morning that is
programmed through my local telephone company that reminds me how great life is
and how I am a value to the coaching community each day.

This is the Wheel of Life. I try to work a’little each day on my “life balance”. This wheel was shown to me when I started
exploring Life Coaching. At first, I found the wheel intimidating. Once I saw
where the gaps were it was much easier to move towards life balance.
Slow down for your Angel to catch up. I
have been very connected to angels since the late 90’s. There is so much comfort
when I walk into a room and there is an angel somewhere. When I’m feeling not
sure of a decision, I know where I need to be and usually you will find me
sitting by their portrait.
Bring on the books!
Reading is my passion and I can always find something at Barnes and Noble. My
love of reading was encouraged and modeled since childhood. My
father made it a point for us to spend time together at our local library. I
remember how he used to chase me out of the kid section even in my teen years.
I loved Judy Blume and thank goodness she shared her gift of writing for adults.
I met Judy years later at a Book Fair and told her my story and how it was so
worth while to wait in line two hours for her to sign the revised edition of
Freckle Juice I bought. I made sure I was the last fan so I could get a
chance to speak to her longer. She touchingly gave me personal encouragement to
never lose that “young reader” in me. So if Judy Blume says I can periodically
browse the teen section, then I know it's okay.
Cold winter mornings, you will find me on a fluffy Starbucks chair
with a white mustache of whipped cream foam and a smile. I’m writing, my
husband reading, or we’re discussing our next family outing. Sometimes I have
to make it a short trip, or trade off with some hand-warming tea. It’s always a
great break from the hurried world outside.
Don’t we all have a downfall? Well, Junior
Mints are mine. During my early days at college, a box-a-day kept me going. And it had to be a jumbo box. Anything smaller would
never do. If the theory is correct, “We are what we eat” then I must have
looked like one back then, “You are what you eat” was becoming me. One time,
and I’ll never forget this, I dreamt that I was a box of Junior Mints. It was a
few years after college that I finally was able to quit my addiction, the same
time I decided to have Gastric Bypass Surgery. Today, I’m proud to say I’m
happy with a small box and only on special occasions. The mirror no longer
reflects a chocolate.
How can you not love the face(s) of Robin Williams? When you’re
sitting in a group and asked who you would most like to meet before you die, it
has to be this man. He has so much imagination in that brain of his and I can’t
imagine him having a bad bone in his body. Well, less than the average person.
Robin Williams has battled and openly overcame many challenges. He has been a
wonderful representative of Mental Health awareness and never denied his own
uniqueness.

A big fan. I see myself on
her show. Oprah is indescribable and unbelievable on where she started and
where she is today. For now, the empowerment of watching her work is enough to
be inspired. On occasions we don’t see eye-to-eye, yet I respect her
accomplishments and relish her inspiration.
VW’s -- everyone has a dream car, and this is mine. I still picture
the original versions, including the bus, driving down the highway. One of my
goals this year is to take one for a test drive. I hope this is a passive
phase, two adults and three kids are a tight fit.

This version of A Christmas
Carol can never be replaced with another version. I have read them all but
this is my childhood favorite. When I was growing up, there was a tradition in
my home, right after Thanksgiving my father would sit down and read this story
to me. Even today, when this version replays we watch it together. Each time
we act like it’s the first time we’ve watched it.

This is the
yearly Kincaid holiday movie. My husband introduced this tradition. Each
Thanksgiving, no matter where we’re at, we watch it as a family. Our favorite
part is when Santa Clause yells at Ralphie that he can’t ask for a gun because
“you’ll shoot your eye out kid”.

My Parents
The first Life Coaches in my life. Our famous Dr. Robert
H. Bender and his lovely wife, Carol Ann Bender. These were my first teachers
that guided me in the direction of Life Coaching long before I had ever heard
of it. This dear couple is my Mom and Dad. My parents brought me up with
many of the techniques I use to this day in coaching. Many techniques were
taught to me about time management and organization. My father taught me
about “reminder notes”. If he wanted to remember something he put it on a
piece of paper and put it on the floor by the front door. And to this day, he
sets out a dish, glass and silverware for next day’s breakfast. He is teased
repeatedly by my children when we visit. My Mom was the one to help me learn
the technique of breaking down tasks. To this day, she still has me on the
phone repeating these steps to me and I’ve been a professional life coach for
nearly a decade.
So, I would like to say, I did learn about Life Coaching
from our Founder, Thomas Leonard, but I think he must have visited my house
long before he started his Coach University and the International Coaching
Federation.
