RIGHT TO LEARN: The Future of Gifted Special Education
Wednesday, November 2, 2005
Purpose:
This conference will bring together
community leaders, administrators, students and parents to discuss the
future of gifted education, special education and the role of these tools
in shaping the lives and future of our students.
Targeting the audience of young Moms who
may have examined closely the possible gifts or disabilities in their
children in the first three to five years of life. The conference sponsors
hope to “End that stigma that divides the separate, but unequal
education. Make the Moms feel like they need the disability information
just as much as they need information about the gifts. "Which they really
do",
according to Lisa Kincaid, Life Coach/Consultant, Hand N Hand
Coaching and conference sponsor.
The conference was inspired by the
Haddonfield Sun’s Ray of Hope Award Winner, Emalyn Feitshans. She made a
commitment last spring to create a conference that will help identify and
remove stigma from the world of disabled children as part of her “PROJECT:
INFORM AND ACKNOWLEDGE”. The cause: 1) To inform the community and
general public about the rights of disabled people in New Jersey and the
United States, and 2) To help parents of disabled children get services
for their child’s disability and nourish their child’s gifts.
